Irish by marriage!

I’m Irish by marriage so I go all in.  I pull out my green Red Hare Brewery T-shirt, dust off my favorite Irish jig and celebrate the fun of St. Patrick’s Day. I even drag my Zumba students into it. It’s a party, right?

I can’t leave out Shaun the Sheep. He puts me in a toe tapping mood. How else will I get through the work day?

Oh, here’s my favorite song this time of year. Give it a listen., it’s called Another Irish Drinking Song. Poor Michael Flatley. This song is so much fun so I use it every year in my classes.   Hmm, maybe later I can share that Zumba routine.   Cheers!

Later tonight we will have some friends over for corned beef and cabbage along with all the fixin’s. Beer included. I’ll share more later so stay tuned.

It’s all about that shirt!

So a few months ago I took on Core De Force. I wanted to give kickboxing / mixed martial arts a try. Well, I just couldn’t connect with this program like I hoped. The kicking was awkward for me. I spent so much time trying to just get the moves to flow. I showed up though, every day because:

  1. I made a commitment
  2. I’m not a quitter
  3. Practice helps us grow and learn
  4. I wanted this shirt!!  😂

Not sorry I spent 30 days trying to learn something new. I’m stronger and I learned about me, how my body moves and what motivates me. Time well spent.

With all that said, I just had to have fun with my new shirt. I fought hard to earn this. I’m wearing it as a reminder that I didn’t quit.

Crispy Crunchy!

I love the crispy weather and the crunchy sound the leave make when I’m hiking. The weather was perfect for a five mile hike at Tesnatee Gap in North Georgia.  The color wasn’t spectacular, but there were hints of yellow, orange and red among the brown leaves.  The drought sure has put a damper on the autumn canvas this year. That aside, we had a fun day on the trail taking in the beauty of the season.2016-11-05-09-50-39

This  was our first time hiking this side of the AT. Lots of switchbacks and loose rocks. The leaves made it a challenge sometimes but it was fun and I didn’t bust my rump or twist my ankle!! We trekked along at a pretty good pace, too. We stopped along the way to enjoy the sites. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to grab a few planks for fun. We wandered on until we found the perfect spot to enjoy our lunch. I’ll take this view over a stuffy office any day…..

We found a few bursts of red leaves and a green one hanging on for deer life not wanting to give way to the autumn weather.

 

At the end of the day, my feet were tired but my boots sure were glad to get some trail dust on them!2016-11-05-11-28-07

Only 62 days…

62 days until 2017!?! Wow! That means I have 62 days to get my rump in gear. Tomorrow I’m kicking off my 3-day cleanse, then next week I will be starting Core De Force. Heck yeah! I’m leaving 2016 fitter than I entered it!

Before the New Year…

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be that person that eats their way through the holiday and wonders where the heck that 15 or 20 pounds came from. Insanity.

Many of you know this time last year, I was just easing back into teaching my Zumba classes and working out again. Fast forward a year, and I decided it was time to find something that would challenge me to work hard and help me bust out of my plateau. I took on 22 Minute Hard Corps and did pretty well with it, so when I finished it I decided I’d go bigger and take on Insanity Max:30. Wow! I’m not gonna lie, I wanted to quit several times a day in a 30 minute workout, but I knew I had to do this – for me. I modified, and that is okay; it’s how we get stronger. I cried because I didn’t think I could keep going. I laughed because there were some moves I knew I couldn’t do, so I modified them. As I pushed through the pr14199730_10210315180700967_3142723228396708371_nogram, I cried less. I kept pushing – I even did them from the hotel room while we were out of town. I showed up.

I lost a total of 5 pounds over 2 months, and found my collar bone, neck line and my shoulders along the way. I lost a total of 8 inches overall (hips + thighs + waistline). Amazing. I am so proud that I stuck it out. Mike jumped on board and did the DVD program with me; he kept me showing up.Bethany just finished Insanity and offered to do Max:30 with me, so she checked in with me daily. My buddy Ami cheered me on. Sarah, my coach, reminded me I could do whatever I put my mind too. My Facebook friends that put up with my sweaty selfie check ins are a huge part of my success, too. You guys keep me accountable! I love you all.

So, I am super nervous about sharing these pictures, but it is more important that I share them than it is to let my fears keep me from posting them. I want you to know that you can do anything you set out to do and you don’t have to do it alone. Anyone who decides they are ready to get healthy, and commit to it daily, they will succeed. If that’s you, I promise I will be there to cheer you on – the way others have for me! I’m starting a new round on 9/5, and would love your company and two-way support.

Coach Summit.

This time last week I was on my way to Nashville to join my team at a coach Summit. I can’t express enough how thankful I am for Beachbody. The programs are fun and give me the tools I need to get the results I’m personally looking for. I’ve met incredible friends along the way that help me stay accountable. I have the opportunity to help other people get healthy and see results too. Being able to pour love and encouragement into the lives of those around me is such a blessing! summit

Max Out.

Max Out Strength liked to kill me today. Lots of tears as I pushed thru. Why am I pushing myself? Because I have to get healthy. Sure I’ve lost 100 pounds and feel so much better. {Insert happy dance} The reality is, I’m still obese. I have about 35 pounds to go. The only way to lose it is to dial in my nutrition and challenge myself with a good sweaty workout. So tears, sore muscles and all I’m pushing through because I’m stronger than my excuses. I have goals and I’m gonna crush them. I’m gonna help everyone I can along the way!!maxout
